In a major boost to local healthcare services, Akoromit Health Center III in Kapelebyong District has received medical equipment valued at UGX 110 million under the Uganda Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfers (UGIFT) program.
The development was confirmed by Mr. Emmanuel Opio, the Communications Officer of Kapelebyong District, during an interview with our reporter. According to Mr. Opio, the consignment includes essential medical tools such as hospital beds, weighing scales,wheelchairs among others aimed at enhancing service delivery and reducing the burden on residents.
“This equipment will greatly improve the speed and quality of care for patients,” he said. “Previously, residents had to travel long distances to access better-equipped facilities, spending over UGX 40,000 to reach Amuria for treatment.”
In a related development, the district also received an ultrasound scanner donated by Sight Savers, an international organization supporting healthcare initiatives.
The machine was officially unveiled by the Resident District Commissioner Olinga Tom Otukol,marking another milestone in Kapelebyong’s healthcare advancement.
Local leaders and residents have welcomed the improvements, noting that they will reduce maternal and child mortality rates and improve general health outcomes in the area.
