Teso - Teso Vibez, one of the leading online news platforms in Eastern Uganda, is set to host its first-ever multi-county political debate marathon, bringing unprecedented political heat and engagement across the Teso sub-region. The highly anticipated debate series will officially kick off on December 5, 2025, beginning with the Soroti City mayoral candidates.

The inaugural debate will be held at Rhino Camp in Moru Apesur, Soroti City East Division, and will later expand to cover key constituencies within Soroti City, Soroti District, Serere, Amuria, Kapelebyong, and other districts in the region. This initiative marks the first structured and regionwide debate platform dedicated to fostering open dialogue between political aspirants and the electorate.

According to Nathan Eyagu, Chief Editor of Teso Vibez, the debate marathon aims to enhance democratic participation and promote policy-based politics. Eyagu, who described the program as “The Leaders’ Hot Seat,” emphasized that the debates will push candidates to address critical issues that affect the daily lives of citizens, including service delivery, governance, accountability, and long-term development.

“This debate will allow voters to critically examine the ideas each candidate brings to the table and assess whether those ideas genuinely respond to the needs and aspirations of the electorate,” Eyagu noted. He added that the goal is to create a transparent space where political rivals engage constructively and offer solutions that matter.

The debates will be broadcast live across all Teso Vibez media platforms, including social media channels and partnered broadcasters, ensuring that residents across the region can follow the discussions in real time.

Teso Vibez says the initiative reflects its commitment to strengthening civic awareness, promoting accountability, and empowering voters with the information they need ahead of the 2025 electoral cycle.
