Teso College Aloet has commemorated 72 years of academic excellence, celebrating a rich legacy of producing distinguished professionals and leaders who have made significant contributions to Uganda's development.
The anniversary celebrations brought together students, alumni, education stakeholders, church leaders, and members of the community to reflect on the school's achievements and its enduring commitment to quality education.
Speaking during the celebrations, the Headteacher, Julius Opasso, described Teso College Aloet as one of the leading academic institutions in Eastern Uganda, particularly in the Teso Sub-region. He said the school's strong academic tradition has enabled it to remain among Uganda's most respected secondary schools, noting that historically it has ranked among the country's top 32 institutions.
Opasso said the occasion also celebrated the achievements of the school's distinguished alumni, whose accomplishments continue to inspire current students. Among those recognized were Professor Godfrey Akileng, Mr. Akwabai, Dr. John Ekure, and Dr. Epodoi, whose professional success reflects the values and academic foundation established at Teso College Aloet.
Addressing students, Professor Godfrey Akileng, a senior professor at Makerere University and an alumnus of the school, urged learners to embrace discipline, hard work, and commitment to their studies. He challenged students across the Teso Sub-region to use education as a tool for transforming their lives and contributing to Uganda's social and economic development.
The Diocesan Secretary of the Church of Uganda, Soroti Diocese Samuel Ediau, who officiated as the chief guest, encouraged students to fully embrace the school's values and traditions. He emphasized that discipline, perseverance, and dedication remain the pillars of academic success and personal growth.
He also cautioned learners against engaging in activities that could distract them from their education, urging them to remain focused on achieving their academic goals and preparing for future leadership roles.
As Teso College Aloet marks 72 years of excellence, the institution continues to uphold its reputation as a center for academic achievement, character formation, and leadership development, nurturing generations of graduates who continue to serve Uganda in various professions.
