The official funeral and burial program for the late Ekongo Alfred Mandev, a popular driver with the Kakise Bus Company, has been released.
The deceased, whose body is currently lying at the Soroti Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for proper management, will be laid to rest on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at his ancestral home in Ngora District.
According to the official schedule released by the organizing committee and family, the funeral activities will commence on Friday, July 24, 2026, when the body is retrieved from the hospital mortuary.
A requiem mass will be held in his honor at Immaculate Cathedral in Soroti at 10:00 AM. Following the church service, the public will be given an opportunity to pay their last respects during a public viewing session at Soroti Gardens starting at 1:00 PM. Later in the afternoon, the body will depart Soroti for Ngora Town, where it will be taken to his home for public viewing and an overnight vigil.
On Saturday, July 25, 2026, a second requiem mass will take place at St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish in Ngora starting at 10:00 AM. Thereafter, the cortege will move to his ancestral home in Oledai Village, Nyamongo Parish, where mourners will gather for another public viewing and a night vigil.
The final burial service is scheduled for Sunday, July 26, 2026, in Oledai Village, Nyamongo Parish, Ngora District, with the program beginning officially at 10:00 AM.
The late Mandev was a recognized figure in the transport sector, widely known for his service with Kakise Bus Company. Colleagues, friends, and members of the public from across the Teso sub-region and beyond are expected to gather throughout the weekend to pay their final respects and support the family during this period of mourning.
