The Zeb Lavone School of Excellence located in Pamba-Akisim in Soroti City East showcased the power of practical learning during its vibrant Parents’ Day , where pupils impressed the school community with innovative science presentations. Learners from Primary Two, Three and Four displayed a collaborative solar project, while Primary Five demonstrated their understanding of the five layers of the Earth’s atmosphere. The exhibitions reflected the school’s strong emphasis on experiential education as a pathway to deeper comprehension and skill development.
Representing the parents, Mike Eceru commended the teachers for their dedication to nurturing the learners. He described the process of raising and educating children as “a good journey,” noting that the most important element is the shared goal of equipping children with meaningful experiences that shape their growth.
Principal Esther Wanyana reaffirmed the school’s commitment to prioritizing hands-on knowledge over purely theoretical instruction. She emphasized that practical learning not only strengthens understanding but also equips children with valuable skills for real-world application. She encouraged parents to remain attentive and supportive, particularly during this long and politically active season, urging them to ensure their children’s stability and wellbeing.
Chief guest Pastor Robert Okalang delivered an inspiring message urging parents to be prayerful, supportive and fully present in their children’s lives. He emphasized the importance of reliability, availability and exemplary conduct, stating that a well-raised child is often the result of parents dedicating consistent time and presence. He encouraged parents to remain trustworthy partners in nurturing children grounded in strong values and good character.
The event concluded with appreciation for the collaborative efforts of teachers and parents, underscoring a shared commitment to raising responsible, knowledgeable and well-guided learners through practical, experience-based education.
