Bukedea County Member of Parliament-elect, David Beecham Okwere, has taken another major step in strengthening healthcare delivery in the district with the procurement and official handover of a state-of-the-art ambulance, secured in partnership with the Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among.
The fully equipped ambulance was unveiled during the free eye care camp at Bukedea Teaching Hospital, before being officially handed over to Bukedea NRM Chairperson, Isaac Epilo, in a ceremony attended by dignitaries and community members.
Addressing guests at the event, Okwere emphasized that the new ambulance represents a significant upgrade in emergency medical response, describing it as far more than a conventional patient transport vehicle.
“This is not like the usual ambulances you see in other districts. This is a moving hospital,” Okwere said. “It is fully equipped with essential medical equipment and supplies to provide immediate care while patients are in transit.”
The MP-elect highlighted that the acquisition of the ambulance is part of broader efforts to improve access to quality healthcare services in Bukedea, particularly in emergency situations where time and equipment are critical to saving lives.
The handover ceremony drew notable figures, including businessman Sudhir Ruparelia and the cultural leader of the Iteso, Paul Sande Emolot, who joined the community for the outreach.
Also in attendance were members of the Indian business community, district leaders from various parts of the country, and Members of Parliament from different districts, highlighting the national significance of the initiative and the broad support behind Bukedea’s development efforts.
Okwere used the occasion to underscore the importance of partnerships in driving development, crediting Speaker Anita Among for her continued support in delivering key services to the people of Bukedea.
He reiterated his commitment to prioritizing initiatives that directly improve livelihoods, noting that the ambulance will play a critical role in bridging healthcare gaps, especially for rural communities that often face challenges accessing timely medical attention.
The addition of the advanced ambulance complements ongoing health interventions in the district, including the high-impact eye care camp that has already benefited thousands. Together, these efforts signal a growing momentum toward strengthening Bukedea’s healthcare system through coordinated leadership and strategic partnerships.
Local leaders and residents welcomed the development, expressing optimism that the new ambulance will significantly improve emergency response and save lives across the district and surrounding areas.
