Social media users have expressed mixed reactions following a tribute posted by National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, in honor of veteran musician and entertainer Master Parrot, who died on June 1, 2026, following a tragic road accident along Kampala's Northern Bypass in Masanafu.

According to reports, Master Parrot, whose real name was David Sifaayo, was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the road at around 7:30 p.m. He was rushed to Mulago National Referral Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Following news of his passing, Bobi Wine took to his X account to mourn the entertainer and reflect on their friendship.

"Just got the terrible news that we've lost our brother @MasterParrot. Old funny conversations, careless hearty laughters are the painful memories you live with us my friend. Until we meet again. ?"

The message quickly attracted widespread attention, with many users expressing sympathy and sharing memories of the late entertainer. However, the tribute also sparked debate among social media users, with some questioning whether more could have been done to support Master Parrot during his lifetime.

Some commentators argued that successful individuals should extend support to longtime friends facing challenges. They suggested that Bobi Wine, given his prominence and reported friendship with the deceased, could have offered assistance before his untimely death.

Others went further, criticizing what they described as a tendency for public figures to celebrate friendships only after tragedy strikes.

However, many social media users defended the opposition leader, saying it was unfair to expect one individual to solve the financial or personal struggles of every friend or associate. They noted that public figures often have extensive social circles and family responsibilities, making it impossible to meet every expectation placed upon them.

Another group of commentators urged the public to focus on celebrating Master Parrot's life and contribution to Uganda's entertainment industry rather than assigning blame following his death. They argued that road accidents are unpredictable tragedies and that expressions of grief should not automatically become subjects of political or personal criticism.

The discussion has since evolved into a broader conversation about friendship, loyalty, and the expectations society places on successful individuals when those around them face difficulties.

As tributes continue to pour in from fans, fellow entertainers, politicians, and members of the public, many Ugandans are remembering Master Parrot for his talent, humor, and contribution to the country's entertainment scene.

Funeral and burial arrangements are expected to be communicated by the family.
