Ugandan music icon Cindy Sanyu has finally broken her silence regarding her refusal to share the stage with Omega 256 for their hit collaboration, “See You Tonight,” even when the two artists are booked for the same event.
 

The “King Herself” addressed the long-standing speculation during a candid interview on Galaxy TV, revealing that the professional relationship between the two soured shortly after the song’s release. According to Cindy, the friction began when the track started gaining traction and critical acclaim.

“We had some issues after doing the song,” Cindy explained. “When we received an award for it, her team insisted that they would be the ones taking all the awards, leaving me out of the recognition.”

Cindy, who is widely respected for her extensive experience in the industry, expressed deep frustration over how the project was handled, noting that she had taken on a massive role in bringing the song to life.

“I looked for the writer, went to record it in my own studio, and they didn’t even pay for the production,” she revealed.

The singer further admitted that she now regrets some of the professional compromises she made out of goodwill. She noted that she allowed the song to be uploaded to Omega 256’s YouTube channel because she wanted to give the rising star a platform, believing Omega needed the exposure more than she did.

The dispute, however, extended beyond just the stage and awards. Cindy disclosed that there was a major disagreement over the distribution of earnings and credit.

“Omega 256 gave herself 60% of the song and left me with 40%, yet I was the one who handled almost everything regarding the production and creation of that song,” Cindy stated.

For Cindy, these unresolved issues regarding ownership and professional respect have created an irreparable rift. Despite the popularity of “See You Tonight,” the “King Herself” maintains that she prefers to steer clear of performing the duet, signaling that behind the scenes, the collaboration was far from the harmonious success fans witnessed on screen.

As of now, Omega 256 has yet to publicly respond to these claims.
