Stephen Ejoku has been honoured with a prestigious medal for his outstanding role in organising a memorable farewell ceremony for former Deputy Resident City Commissioner of Soroti City West, James Small Chemutai, who has been deployed to Kumi District as Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC).
The recognition was bestowed upon Ejoku by the chief guest, Raphael Otaya, the King of Kumam, during a colourful ceremony held at Hyde Park in Soroti City. The event attracted a large gathering of political leaders, cultural leaders, friends, and residents who turned up to celebrate Chemutai's service and wish him success in his new assignment.
Speaking after receiving the medal, Ejoku said the organising committee was motivated by the immense contribution Chemutai made during his tenure in Soroti City West. He noted that Chemutai distinguished himself through his dedication to monitoring and coordinating government programmes and ensuring that public services reached the intended beneficiaries.
According to Ejoku, the successful arrangements for the farewell ceremony reflected the appreciation that the people of Soroti have for Chemutai's leadership and commitment to duty. He expressed confidence that Chemutai would continue to serve with the same zeal and professionalism in Kumi District.
Ejoku further called upon public servants to emulate Chemutai's approach to leadership by prioritising service delivery and maintaining close engagement with the communities they serve. He observed that the large turnout at the ceremony was evidence that Chemutai had positively impacted the lives of many residents, who will greatly miss his service.
In his remarks, King Raphael Otaya commended Stephen Ejoku for his wise decision to organise a befitting farewell for Chemutai.
