The Member of Parliament representing Uganda in the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), Jacqueline Amongin, has paid tribute to the late Gen. Moses Ali, describing him as a peace builder, mentor, and national icon whose exemplary leadership and integrity will remain an inspiration to future generations.

Speaking in an interview during the burial ceremony of the veteran statesman in Adjumani yesterday, Amongin said Uganda has lost one of its most distinguished leaders who dedicated his life to serving the nation with humility, honesty, and patriotism.

Amongin noted that throughout his decades of public service, Gen. Moses Ali remained a man of unquestionable integrity despite holding several influential positions both nationally and internationally. She said his name was never tainted by corruption or the misuse of public office, a rare trait that earned him the respect of many Ugandans.

"Gen. Moses Ali served his country selflessly. He was a humble leader who never used public office for personal gain. His life is a lesson in integrity and servant leadership," Amongin said.

She further described the late leader as a committed religious figure and an icon within the Muslim community whose influence extended beyond religion and politics. According to Amongin, his exemplary character made him a unifying figure admired across the country.

The EALA legislator also recalled how Gen. Moses Ali mentored young members of Parliament when she joined the Ninth Parliament. She credited him for his willingness to guide emerging leaders on parliamentary procedures, leadership, and decorum.

Amongin praised the late Gen. Moses Ali for his significant contribution to peacebuilding and reconciliation efforts in Uganda, particularly in the West Nile region. She noted that he played a key role in advocating for infrastructure development, including the tarmacking of roads that have transformed livelihoods in the area.

She said Gen. Moses Ali will be remembered not only in West Nile but throughout Uganda as a symbol of peace, humility, and dedicated public service.
