Sky echoes, a music group in Teso that consists of two artists Benza man and Sweet Melon who also double as the UMA (Uganda musicians association) representatives in Teso region have made a call to all the Teso artists requesting them to come and pick their UMA Identity cards and those who haven’t registered to do so because there are many opportunities that have come out amidst the pandemic that has left shows suspended.
During an exclusive interview with this website, the duo also explained why they have been silent for a long time
‘’It’s not just a matter of silence, we have been in this game for a very long time, some times you don’t need to move under pressure that’s why you find some artists in Teso hit one song then disappear and even sing nonsense, we are creating a platform that will move Teso music to another level’’ Sweet Melon said
‘’We have come to realize that, music is commercial, we are trying to find other ways on how to make money with our music that’s why we don’t or rarely upload our music on websites, artists can earn through UMA, one only needs to register then get a card and later on starting getting ways of earning online, for example, the Ug connect concerts that we are currently working on to see that some of our artists get chance to perform and get paid on that platform through UMA and artists can reach out to us to get assisted before its too late’’ He added
He also added that most of the artists who registered their names for the covid relief through the UMA got their funds and it was all possible through the cooperation.
