KAMPALA – Uganda is a home of great talent where many singers are mushrooming everyday to display what they have so that they gain fame and eventually reap out of their talents but are most times set back with the big volume of competition thus making others to give up.
In the capital of Kampala, a talented 28 years old Bale Shafiki popularly known as Materio has managed to bet odds and make ends meet through infiltrating into the public thus making a name through entertaining the masses with a number of dancehall music and freestyle while standing next to his boom box.
Materio a born to a Munyankole father and a Muganda mother on November 27th, 1993.
After his senior four, he picked an interest in joining music in 2017 which didn’t mature as it was hard for him to showcase his talent from bars and clubs thus making him take the option of performing outdoors.
"I came up with that idea because I was denied a platform in clubs and bars to show showcase my talent so I had to look for a way to enter the music industry, when you make good music, people get to appreciate it so much”, Materio told this site.
Materio performs different dance hall songs together using his boom box in different shopping malls and other areas too thus earning a living.
He also occasionally gets gigs to sing in offices, surprise birthdays, and engagements charging 50,000 ugx within the city, 100,000 ugx outside the city and 150,000 ugx in distant areas.
Materio has a vision of becoming one of the most popular singers in Africa citing the example of Burna boy.
He further urged most of the talented youth never to give up to sit on their talents if they want to be seen as it takes a journey for one to be where he or she wants to be.
