Kalaki – The Emorimor Papa Iteso, His Highness Paul Sande Emolot, has urged Iteso learners to prioritize education and enroll in courses that align with the demands of the modern job market.

During his visit to several schools in Kalaki District, including Apapai Seed Secondary School, Abalang Secondary School, and Otuboi Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Emorimor expressed concern over the declining secondary school completion rates among Iteso students. He also criticized the growing preference for non-competitive degrees, calling for a shift toward science, technology, and technical courses that enhance employability.

“As Iteso, we often take pride in having degrees, but many of these qualifications do not translate into jobs. We need to guide our children toward courses that will make them competitive in the job market,” he emphasized.

Emorimor also outlined the Iteso Cultural Union’s (ICU) ten-year strategic plan, which seeks to increase the number of professionals within the region. He challenged teachers to play a more active role in shaping students' career choices, ensuring they are well-equipped for the evolving job landscape.

Meanwhile, Her Royal Majesty Juliet Among Emolot Toto Akaliat, a strong advocate for girls’ education, encouraged female learners to remain focused on their studies for a brighter future. She emphasized the importance of moral values and pledged to launch a program promoting virginity among girls, citing its cultural and spiritual significance.

"Your body is the temple of Christ. Stay prayerful and dedicated to your education," she advised.

Emorimor, dressed in his traditional royal regalia, was accompanied by Akaliat, ICU Prime Minister Andrew Ocole, other ICU ministers, and the ICU council chairperson. Their visit was part of a broader initiative to promote the construction of Ere Iteso, clan registration, land administration sensitization, and cultural mobilization efforts across the region.

The engagement underscores the ICU’s commitment to fostering educational excellence and cultural preservation among the Iteso community.
