SOROTI - Jeressar High School officially opened the UCE examination season with a vital briefing held today. With more than 400 candidates sitting for the exams this year as they become the first cohort to sit for the new curriculum exams introduced by the Ministry of Education.
The exams will officially begin on Monday, with students kicking off with Mathematics Paper One in the morning and Geography in the afternoon.
During the briefing, Chairman of the Board of Governors, Lawrence Oyamatum, shared words of encouragement that resonated with all in attendance. "Stay focused, remain strong, and have confidence as you approach your exams," he urged the candidates.
Oyamatum also took a moment to express his deep gratitude to the teaching staff for their unwavering dedication and commitment in preparing the students, and to the parents and guardians for their consistent support, particularly in ensuring school fees were paid on time.
“Go forward with determination and make us all proud as you begin your UCE examinations on Monday.”he added.
Meanwhile the director of Studies, Joseph Onyait, also addressed the candidates, offering a heartfelt reminder of all the hard work they’ve put in over the past four years.
“This is your time to shine and demonstrate the knowledge and skills you’ve acquired,” he said. Mr. Onyait emphasized that the success of the students would bring joy not just to themselves, but also to their families. “Your parents and guardians are eagerly waiting to celebrate your success,” he added, motivating the students to give their best.
In her message, Head Teacher Asekenye Bertha called for calmness and focus, encouraging students to trust in their preparation. “This is not your first time sitting for exams. You’ve faced multiple mock exams, tests, and challenges, and you’ve come through stronger each time,” she reminded them.
As the candidates prepare to begin their exams with Mathematics and Geography, many expressed a mix of excitement and nervous anticipation highlighting the support from their teachers and the clarity from today’s briefing that made them feel more prepared.
With more than 400 students set to tackle the first-ever new curriculum exams, the school is confident that the dedication of both students and staff will lead to remarkable success.
