SOROTI – In the spirit of love and giving, Action of Love International, a non-profit organization headquartered in Soroti City, has extended its support to persons living with disabilities across various constituencies in the Teso sub-region and beyond. The organization donated a wide assortment of goodies to brighten the festive season for its beneficiaries.
The donations, which included sugar, soap, rice, posho, mattresses, blankets, and soft drinks, were warmly received by beneficiaries, many of whom are underprivileged and in dire need of assistance. This initiative reflects the organization’s core mission of uplifting and empowering vulnerable communities through acts of kindness and tangible support.
Amongin Suzan, a mother from Pingire County in Serere District, whose daughter Namaganga Magreat, 8, was one of the beneficiaries, expressed her gratitude during an interview. "I appreciate the organization for their kind support. I was initially living in a difficult state, but with the items I have received, I am beyond grateful. We can now celebrate the festive season with love."
Hellen Imojot, another mother to a beneficiary, couldn’t hide her joy. She said the support would greatly help her child and added, "My child has never received such support before from anyone. This gesture from the organization means everything to us."
While addressing the media during the event, Jefferson Kandi, the Chief Executive Officer of Action of Love International, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the donors who made the initiative possible.
"As an organization, we felt we couldn’t celebrate the festive season alone while knowing our beneficiaries wouldn’t have a chance to celebrate it. We used this day as a moment of sharing and showing love together as a family," Kandi said.
He further elaborated on the challenging living conditions of many beneficiaries. "During our visits, we noticed that some persons with disabilities sleep on mats or have no bedding at all. This realization inspired us to not only provide food but also items like mattresses and blankets, ensuring they can rest comfortably and celebrate with joy."
Kandi noted that the organization provided these items to 33 beneficiaries during the event, although the target was over 50. He assured that follow-ups would be made to ensure all beneficiaries eventually receive their share of the festive package.
In his message to the public, Kandi called for collective action to support persons living with disabilities. "They have been abandoned and neglected for far too long. They need love, care, and support from those who are in a position to stand by them."
"We are deeply thankful for the incredible support from our donors who have made this moment of sharing and love a reality. This donation will not only provide much-needed relief to the beneficiaries but also put smiles on their faces and renew their hopes for the future," Kandi added.
The festive season is often challenging for many underprivileged families. Through this initiative, Action of Love International has reaffirmed its commitment to improving lives and spreading joy. Beneficiaries praised the organization’s efforts, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the thoughtful gesture.
Operating across the Teso sub-region and beyond, the organization continues to deliver programs aimed at enhancing education, health, and socio-economic welfare for disadvantaged communities. With the support of its donors and partners, Action of Love International remains a beacon of hope for those in need.
As the festive season continues, the organization has called on individuals and entities to embrace the spirit of giving and help make a lasting impact on the lives of the less fortunate.
