Action of love International restores hope to disabled persons in Kagwara town council

Non governmental organization based in soroti city has restored hope to the persons living with disability in Kagwara town council,Kasilo County in Serere district.

 

More than twenty disabled people got enrolled as beneficiaries early this week as the organization visited the area.

 

According to Jefferson Kandi the executive director of Action of love International, they received a call from Hon. Benard Odikor the area LC3 following the cry of the disabled persons in the town council thus prompting them to pay a visit to access the situation at hand and to identify the beneficiaries as it's their first time to reach out their services to Kagwara town council as they have initially been at Atiira sub county in Serere district.

 

"What we noticed in most areas is the same situation experienced here, most disabled persons are in serious agony and need assistance", he added.

 

He also explained that they are ready to work closely with the community to help the disabled persons with the necessary support like free medical care, mobility to ease movements,heifers and seed capital for the persons living with disabilities following the community out cry.

thanked the organization for coming forward to help the disabled persons in his town council as they have faced a number of challenges as they lack mobility looking at the rate of poverty, education and community love as they are at most times neglected.

 

He further noted that even with government programs that come up,only a few get to benefit leaving out a large number helpless thus calling upon other organizations to come up and support persons living with disabilities at kagwara town council.

 

The NGO later gave out a number of assortments that include soap, sugar,bread and others and vowed to continue supporting the disabled persons.

 

What the beneficiaries say.

 

Different beneficiaries who spoke to this website expressed happiness towards their organization and chairperson as they had lost hope following the untimely death of their representative at the town council.

 

Glades Idimu a widow thanked the organization for coming up to their rescue as they have never benefited before although they have had a number of people come to register their names.

 

She further called for support of mobility that will help her move steadily as she has been crawling all her life making it hard to access services.

 

Joel Okae appreciated the organization for the support given and appealed to be taken to school so that his dream of becoming a doctor comes in to reality.

 

Odeke William whose leg was amputated in 2018 explained his agony of being disabled as he lives in pain.

 

"Accessing services such as medication is not easy since the facilities are far, feeding as it's not easy to get what to eat easily has greatly affected us the disabled persons but we now have hope with this organization coming up ", he added.
