Renowned musician Mark P has issued an official statement to clarify the events that unfolded during Yona’s recent concert and to clear up misunderstandings stemming from a previous message about fellow artist Cpt Mukula.

Mark P explained that he was invited by Yona to perform as a supporting act at the concert. However, tensions escalated when one of Mark P’s security personnel stopped a woman from recording his performance. The woman mistakenly believed the instruction came from Mark P’s wife, which led to a heated confrontation. The situation intensified as security personnel intervened on stage to control the disturbance.

Describing the unfolding chaos, Mark P said he chose to temporarily leave the stage, stating, “I am not someone who enjoys conflict or kavuyo.” Nevertheless, responding to persistent demands from the audience, he returned to continue his performance.

In his statement, Mark P stressed that his brief departure was not a display of arrogance or pride but a deliberate attempt to calm the situation and avoid further disruption. He acknowledged that crowd dynamics can become volatile, especially when an expected artist’s performance does not meet fans’ anticipations.

To dispel rumors of physical assault during the incident, Mark P offered a reward of one million shillings to anyone who can present video evidence proving that the woman was harmed.

Separately, Mark P used the platform to address misconceptions about a recent social media message, which some interpreted as criticism of Cpt Mukula. He expressed profound respect for Cpt Mukula’s dedication and contributions to the music industry, emphasizing that his intention was never to undermine him. Instead, Mark P explained that the message aimed to encourage event organizers in the Teso region to prioritize local artists as headliners, rather than depending on external performers who may inadvertently overshadow homegrown talent.

In addition, Mark P announced plans to host a live Q\&A session on TikTok, where he will engage directly with fans and provide further clarification on the concert incident and his recent statements.
