Tensions are rising within the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) in Soroti City as a vocal group of youth leaders and supporters have issued a firm warning to the party’s Members of Parliament: support us now or risk losing our backing in future elections.

The message was delivered during a heated engagement held at the FDC offices in Soroti, chaired by National FDC Youth Chairperson, Adepo Francis. The gathering brought together a large number of youth supporters from the region.

Addressing the crowd, Adepo Francis stated that the youth are tired of being sidelined by their own party leaders, especially during critical political moments.

He emphasized that elected FDC officials who fail to rally behind youth candidates in the upcoming elections will not enjoy their support in the 2026 general elections.

"The time for silence and political convenience is over," Adepo declared. "We are sending a clear message to our MPs—if you won’t support us now, we won’t support you in 2026."

Atemo Mary Gorretty, Secretary General of the FDC Youth League, echoed this sentiment, stating that the youth have grown more politically aware and united than ever before. "This time around, the youth are very wise. We shall go with those who stand with us," she said.

The warning reflects broader frustrations among young FDC members, who feel that their voices and efforts are often undervalued by the party’s senior leadership.

With the youth elections approaching, the call for solidarity and recognition has become more urgent.
Observers say the growing rift could have implications for party cohesion in the Teso sub-region if not addressed. However, youth leaders remain adamant that this is not about rebellion—but about accountability and fairness within the party.

As the FDC youth elections near, all eyes will be on Soroti to see whether the party leadership will respond to the demands or risk alienating a critical voting bloc.
