Eastern Uganda - In a move signaling a renewed push for youth-led leadership, Hon. Opolot Peter has formally picked nomination forms to contest for the Eastern Youth Member of Parliament position. The announcement has sparked enthusiasm among youth leaders and supporters across the region, positioning him as a prominent figure in the race ahead of the 2025 elections.

Speaking at the Electoral Commission offices, Hon. Opolot emphasized his commitment to championing issues that directly affect young people in Eastern Uganda.

“This is not just a personal decision—it’s a collective step for every young person who believes in transformation, innovation, and equal opportunities,” he stated.

Hon. Opolot’s campaign is anchored on a progressive vision that prioritizes:

Education and Skills Development: Enhancing access to quality education and expanding vocational training opportunities aligned with market needs.

Youth Employment: Promoting entrepreneurship, supporting youth-led startups, and unlocking job opportunities, particularly in agriculture and technology.

Health and Wellbeing: Improving access to youth-friendly health services, with a focus on mental health and reproductive health education.

Civic Engagement: Encouraging meaningful participation of young people in governance and decision-making at both local and national levels.

With a strong background in community mobilization and youth advocacy, Hon. Opolot has consistently led initiatives aimed at empowering young people. From organizing regional skills development programs to lobbying for inclusive youth policies, his work has left a tangible impact, especially in underprivileged communities.
