Soroti City West MP, Ebwalu Jonathan, has officially launched the “VIVA” campaign (Village to Village FDC campaign), aimed at promoting the message of change across the region. The campaign launch took place in various villages within the Amen A ward, Soroti City West division.
During the launch, MP Ebwalu emphasized the importance of embracing the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party’s core principles, particularly those related to good governance and democracy. He urged local residents to actively participate in fostering a democratic environment grounded in accountability and transparency.
“We are here today on behalf of FDC leadership to launch the VIVA campaign—village to village, ward to ward, sub-county to sub-county, and district to district,” said Ebwalu.
In his address, the MP highlighted his achievements during his first term, showcasing the positive impacts of his leadership on the community.
“I have been ranked among the most vocal members of parliament, where I have raised pertinent issues affecting Soroti and Teso at large,” he stated. “I have also lobbied for schools, health facilities, and improvements to the road network across the constituency.”
At the campaign launch, Soroti City West Division council speaker, Daniel Okello, called for increased government funding for local infrastructure, particularly roads.
“Our roads are in a terrible state, especially in rural and peri-urban areas. We need to increase road funds to improve mobility and boost trade,” Okello remarked.
He commended MP Ebwalu for introducing the VIVA campaign in Soroti City, recognizing it as a timely initiative to engage the community in democratic processes.
The VIVA campaign is expected to enhance grassroots engagement and strengthen FDC's presence in various communities as it seeks to amplify the voices of the constituents and address critical local issues.
