SOROTI CITY - In a significant political development, Mr. David Calvin Echodu has been officially declared unopposed in the NRM primaries for Soroti City West following the unexpected withdrawal of his only challenger, Mr. Ebaat Omar.

The announcement, made earlier this week, clears the way for Echodu to represent the ruling party in the forthcoming elections, marking a major step forward in his political journey.

In a statement following the development, Mr. Echodu expressed profound gratitude to Mr. Omar for what he described as a “gesture of unity and maturity.”

“Unity is key to our region’s progress,” Echodu said. “I appreciate Mr. Ebaat’s gesture and look forward to working together for the betterment of our community.”

With the Soroti City West primaries now settled, Echodu will shift focus to a nationwide campaign, engaging party delegates and solidifying support across the country ahead of the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) decisions. While acknowledging the demands of national duties, Echodu reassured constituents in Soroti that he remains committed to their needs and would soon be back to engage with them directly.

Running under the "New Energy" slogan, Echodu has positioned himself as a youthful, visionary leader aiming to inject renewed dynamism into the NRM party structure. His campaign emphasizes innovation, inclusivity, and strategic mobilization for party relevance in the modern era.

He also reaffirmed his unwavering support for the NRM party chairman and President of Uganda, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, saying:

“The President is strong and needs our collective support to take Uganda to the next level. I pledge to work tirelessly to ensure our party remains relevant, united, and effective in delivering for all Ugandans.”

As the 2025 electoral calendar unfolds, all eyes will be on Mr. Echodu's next steps as he prepares to take his message of “New Energy” to a broader national platform.
