KAMPALA, Uganda – Celebrated Kampala-based journalist Kisakye Ivan today officially launched his presidential bid, declaring his intention to unseat long-serving President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as an independent candidate in the upcoming 2026 elections. Kisakye made his announcement at a press briefing held at Forest Park in Makindye.

Kisakye, who boasts 15 years of experience in journalism, revealed his quest for the country's top job, outlining key planks of his manifesto. He pledged to fundamentally revise the country's education system and policy by introducing what he termed an "Industrial Curriculum."

"We are being forced to learn the western curriculum; if given mandate, I will introduce the industrial curriculum so that Ugandans can benefit from what they are studying," Kisakye stated. He further emphasized his vision, adding, "It's better for a person to start practicing and studying his dream profession at an early stage."

Addressing the pressing issue of youth unemployment, Kisakye highlighted the promotion of agriculture as a core strategy, calling it the "backbone of the country."

Notably, Kisakye chose a bicycle as his campaign symbol. He explained its significance, stating that "it's an affordable means of transportation and he wants to make Uganda affordable for everyone."

Kisakye Ivan's entry adds to the growing number of individuals vying for the top office, as the Electoral Commission prepares to hold presidential nominations from September 23rd to 24th.
