Mathias Walukagga, the singer-turned-politician, has made bold claims about his impending victory in the 2026 Busiro East parliamentary race. After securing the National Unity Platform (NUP) flag, Walukagga expressed his firm belief that no matter what happens in the election, the seat is already his. With the same confidence that earned him the NUP endorsement, Walukagga shared that he’s already preparing his suit for the swearing-in ceremony.
In an interview, Walukagga said, “One foot is already in parliament because when you get the NUP card, you’ve secured 50% already and you’d only need 1% to make 51% to swear in.” His confidence is evident, and he seems certain that his path to the Busiro East MP seat is clear, with victory all but guaranteed.
The competition for Busiro East has certainly heated up, as incumbent MP Medard Sseggona, who has served the constituency for 15 years, announced he would contest as an independent candidate after Walukagga received the NUP endorsement. Despite Sseggona’s long tenure, Walukagga remains unfazed, stating that his time has finally come and that he is already looking forward to the next step in his political journey.
Walukagga’s statement regarding the election was not just about his win, but also about his unwavering loyalty to NUP. He emphasized that he would not run as an independent candidate, even if he were not chosen as the party’s flag bearer. For Walukagga, loyalty to the party comes first, and he firmly believes that God has chosen him for this political path.Acknowledging that his competitors in the race are highly educated and intellectual, Walukagga made it clear that despite their qualifications, he feels that he has been “picked” for this role. “God decided to pick me,” he said, reinforcing his belief that his victory is not just political but also divinely ordained.
As Walukagga gears up for the 2026 elections, he shows no signs of doubt. His optimism and self-assurance have become central to his campaign. For him, the race is more than just a contest for a seat in parliament; it’s a mission that he believes is already destined to succeed. With his eyes set on the swearing-in ceremony, Walukagga is preparing for what he believes is an inevitable win.
Despite the challenge posed by Sseggona’s independent bid, Walukagga remains confident. He understands that the election will be tough but feels certain that his message and his dedication to the people of Busiro East will carry him to victory. His pledge to stay loyal to NUP, regardless of the outcome, signals his commitment to the party and its broader mission.
In his message to the electorate, Walukagga called for support, hoping that voters will see his determination and his readiness to serve. He pointed out that securing the NUP flag was already a major step, stating that the rest of the journey to parliament would be much easier. As the election season draws near, Walukagga’s confidence continues to make headlines. His positive outlook, combined with his strong ties to the NUP, makes him a formidable candidate. For now, he is focused on victory, with his eyes on the ultimate goal—sitting in parliament and representing the people of Busiro East.
While the race is far from over, Mathias Walukagga’s strong belief in his success sets the tone for the upcoming elections.
