SOROTI CITY - A massive crowd on Monday gathered at Onyakai Primary School in Soroti City West Division as David Calvin Echodu, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda and parliamentary candidate, addressed supporters during a campaign rally focused on unity and development.

The rally brought together senior NRM leaders, party flag bearers and different stake holders who jointly urged voters to reject propaganda and support leaders committed to tangible progress.

Addressing the crowd, Enomu John the NRM chairperson for Soroti city warned residents against what he described as deliberate misinformation aimed at misleading voters.

He dismissed allegations that Echodu had been involved in land grabbing, explaining that government land is lawfully acquired through lease arrangements. He also refuted claims that owners of grass-thatched houses would be subjected to taxation, saying no such policy exists.

He noted that if such a tax were to be introduced, a bill would have been presented before Parliament, describing the claims as lies from individuals without a clear agenda. Enomu called on voters to focus on leaders committed to advocating for community development.

NRM National Mobiliser Teddy Acham urged residents to vote for all NRM flag bearers in Soroti City, including President Yoweri Museveni, emphasizing that unity within the party would strengthen the implementation of government programs at the grassroots.

In his address, Echodu commended the people of Onyakai and surrounding communities for their resilience and continued support. He pledged to work tirelessly to transform Soroti City West if elected to Parliament, promising to closely follow up on government pledges and development commitments made to the area.

Echodu assured voters that his priority would be to ensure the full implementation of the NRM manifesto and all government programs meant to improve livelihoods.

Once elected, I will follow up all pledges under NRM and ensure the manifesto is fully implemented. I serve with commitment, and I will not let you down, Echodu said.

He emphasized that leadership should be measured by results rather than rhetoric, urging voters to reject politics based on tribalism, falsehoods, and empty promises.

"People of Soroti do not eat tribalism, they do not eat lies, they want development. I have come to change Soroti City and the entire Teso region. We must move forward together", Echodu said.
