Soroti City — Vice President Jessica Alupo has openly endorsed David Calvin Echodu in the race for the Soroti City West Member of Parliament seat, calling on voters to support his candidature as a pathway to accelerated development and improved service delivery in the city.
Speaking on Tuesday at Nakatunya Primary School during a campaign rally in Soroti City West, Alupo urged residents to rise above political party differences and instead focus on electing leaders with the capacity to deliver tangible results for the people.
She appealed to voters of all political affiliations to back President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Echodu in the forthcoming elections, arguing that effective leadership is rooted in performance and commitment to public service.
“Leadership is about results and service to the people. I call upon voters of all sections and all party colours not to leave this blessing,” Alupo said, referring to Echodu’s candidature. “When you vote President Museveni and David Calvin Echodu, you are voting for development.”
The Vice President praised Echodu’s commitment to addressing key challenges facing Soroti City, including youth unemployment, gaps in urban infrastructure, and shortcomings in service delivery. She noted that electing leaders aligned with the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) would enhance coordination between local and central government, enabling faster implementation of development projects.
Alupo also highlighted various government programmes aimed at improving livelihoods and urged residents to support leaders capable of effectively lobbying for and overseeing the implementation of such initiatives at the local level.
In his remarks, Echodu thanked the Vice President for the endorsement and pledged to prioritise the needs of Soroti City West if elected to Parliament. He said his focus would be on youth empowerment, improved urban infrastructure, and ensuring that residents fully benefit from existing government programmes.
