KAMPALA – The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) is set to publish the 2025 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) results for more than 432,000 candidates who sat for the national examinations last year.

The results will be officially released by the Minister of Education and Sports, Mrs Janet Kataha Museveni, at State House, Nakasero, in Kampala. The announcement is expected to provide a comprehensive overview of national performance under the competency-based assessment framework introduced through the new lower secondary curriculum.

According to UNEB figures, approximately 432,159 candidates registered for the 2025 UCE examinations, reflecting an increase in candidature compared to the previous year. Of these, 52.7 percent were girls while 47.3 percent were boys, continuing the trend of higher female participation at key education levels.

The examinations were conducted nationwide under tightened supervision and enhanced integrity measures aimed at ensuring transparency and credibility in the assessment process.

Education stakeholders across the country are keenly awaiting the results, which are expected to include detailed data on overall pass rates, subject performance, gender comparisons, and regional trends. The outcome will also serve as a critical indicator of the effectiveness of the competency-based curriculum, which emphasizes practical skills, critical thinking, and learner-centered approaches.

The release comes weeks after UNEB announced the 2025 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results, which showed growth in candidature and notable performance trends. Analysts say the UCE results will further inform policy decisions and guide improvements in teaching, learning, and assessment practices at the secondary level.

As schools, parents, and candidates await the official announcement, attention remains focused on how learners have adapted to the new curriculum framework and what the results will reveal about Uganda’s evolving education landscape.
