Rachael Akurut who was popularly known as Amina in Kumi town the late wife to Teso’s celebrated singer clever spider was yesterday 18th, August laid to rest in Akisim village, kanyum parish in Kumi district in an event that was attended by different Teso artists, DJs, comedians, politicians, and others.
The late died at the age of 27 in a motor accident that occurred on 16th august leaving behind three children (two girls and one boy).
The two people (Boda-boda rider and one other female passenger) who were also involved in the same accident are still nursing injuries at Atutur hospital in Kumi district.
Okello Julius alias Clever spider while giving his speech emotionally, appreciated the staff of Soroti University with whom he works, politicians, artists, DJs, friends, in-laws, and others for reaching out to him during that hard trying moment.
Johnson Otinga the chairperson of the Teso musicians associations advised the singer to remain strong and take care of the young children as he too was once a victim who lost a wife who left behind two young twins but managed to bring them up by staying strong and determined.
Malinga Nelson Emerekek the Kumi district LC5 blamed the accident on the reluctance of UNRA in setting up road humps around every trading center that would help reduce on-road accidents as the same road has left about fifteen people dead months after it was handed over to the district to officially start using it.
He further promised to write to the UNRA team so that they can take necessary action and also advised the mourners and the community to continue observing the SOP’s.
