Soroti regional referral hospital is set to receive a medical donation worth 1.2 billion Uganda shillings from American donors through AIDO Network International though the shipment is to arrive after paying off 105 Million to aid the shipment of medical equipment into the country then finally to Soroti district.
The donation is from Project C.U.R.E one of the largest world’s distributors of donated medical supplies and equipment to over 135 countries globally as it follows the horrible state of the hospital equipment used at the regional hospital in Soroti.
According to Dr. Michael Mwanga, the Hospital Director at Soroti hospital has a surge in the number of patients following the best services offered by the different teams of medics at the hospital who have performed successful operations.
“The hospitals handle more than 2.5 million people from different districts of Teso and other regions," he added
Steven Opeitum the Chairman board at AIDO Network Uganda said that after seeing the sorry state at the hospital, they reached out to project c u.r.e who accepted to assist the hospital with medical equipment.
Lilli LeBeau the Needs Assessment Manager for Project C.U.R.E said that the medical equipment for Soroti RRH will be ready for shipment to Uganda once the shipment fees are cleared.
According to LeBeau, their main priority is to provide health care support and hope to patients with the objective of addressing the staggering shortage of medical resources around the world to help boost the health sector.
Stella Apolot Isodo, the Woman Mp Ngora District who doubles as the Spokesperson for Teso Parliamentary Group (TPG) promised to sit down with other members of parliament about the Idea and appreciated both AIDO and project c.u.r.e for the helping hand.
