The government of Uganda today 8th February 2022 released an official burial program for the fallen Iteso paramount chief his Highness, Emorimor papa Iteso Augustine Osuban Lemukol who passed on at Mulago national referral hospital on Saturday 5th February 2022.
"Upon release of this sad news, the president of the Republic of Uganda, his excellency, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, condoled with the family of his Highness, the people of Teso and the entire country upon the sudden loss of this great leader. His excellency, the president directed that papa Augustine Osuban Lemukol, be accorded an official burial", the minister reads in a statement
"Since then the government of Uganda is working closely with the family and the Iteso cultural union to accord the deceased cultural leader of Teso ,papa Augustine Osuban Lemukol, a befitting send-off", she adds
The advanced stages and the funeral program are as follows on Tuesday 15th February 2022, there will be a requiem mass at Namugongo Catholic shrine at 10:00 am before being taken to his family residence in Entebbe at 6:00 PM for a vigil.
On Wednesday 16 February the body will depart for Tororo at 06:00 AM, Mass and Pay of respects in Tororo at 11:00 AM, Body departs for Soroti at 2:00 AM, 6:00 PM vigil Mass at Madera Catholic Parish – Soroti city.
Thursday 17 February 2022 paying tributes by cultural and religious leaders and Ecumenical at Soroti Sports ground at 10:00 AM, before the body leaving for Serere at 4:00 PM for Vigil Mass at Olio Catholic Church Serere TC.
On Friday 18 February 2022, the body will be laid at Serere District Headquarters for tribute by district Local Governments in Teso at 10:00 AM before being taken to his home at 07:00 PM for Mass and a vigil.
The Burial Ceremony will then be conducted on Saturday 19 February 2022 in his ancestral home in Serere district.
