Soroti City – In a bid to enhance safety and uplift the welfare of boda boda riders, Soroti City Woman Member of Parliament aspirant Sarah Inachu, running on the NRM ticket, has donated over 50 reflector jackets to local riders.
The initiative, which took place during a distribution event in Soroti, is part of Inachu’s broader commitment to community empowerment, particularly among groups that play a vital role in economic mobilization.
Addressing the riders, Inachu emphasized the critical importance of boda boda operators in the region’s transportation network and economy.
"When you compare boda boda operations in Soroti to other regions, it is evident that those with supportive leadership enjoy better working conditions," she said. "I intend to be that leader who champions the empowerment and improvement of our boda boda sector."
Beyond improving safety, Inachu highlighted that her vision includes advocating for the rights and welfare of marginalized groups citywide.
"Boda bodas are often overlooked, yet they are crucial to our economic framework. It is imperative that we advocate for their rights and support systems," she noted. She also urged the public to rally behind her mission, which she says includes uplifting the business community and other underserved groups.
Boda boda riders who received the reflectors expressed gratitude for the gesture.
"Providing us with reflectors shows that she genuinely cares about our safety and welfare. It’s a clear sign of a leader who prioritizes community empowerment," said Thomas Elweta, a rider who spoke to our reporter.
As the 2026 general elections approach, Inachu continues to build momentum for her campaign, focusing on actionable solutions and inclusive development. She reaffirmed her commitment to making a lasting impact in Soroti City, especially among the underprivileged.
"If elected, I will ensure that every community—regardless of status—is given a fair chance to thrive," she concluded.
