Attan Moses Okia, a well-known opposition figure and loyal member of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), has officially taken oath as Member of Parliament for Soroti City East in the 12th Parliament, promising to intensify the fight for improved public services and accountability to taxpayers.

Attan was sworn in during a ceremony held at Parliament  alongside other newly elected legislators from across the country. Shortly after taking the oath, the outspoken legislator delivered a passionate message of gratitude to his supporters and reaffirmed his commitment to defending the interests of ordinary citizens.

“Who am I, my Lord? Thank you. Thank you all people of Soroti East Division, Soroti City, Teso and Uganda. Without each one of you, and God above us all, I am nothing. Glory to you God,” Okia said.

The Soroti City East MP stressed that his focus in the new parliamentary term will be on demanding effective service delivery, transparency, and proper utilization of public resources. He noted that many communities continue to struggle with poor roads, unemployment, weak healthcare systems, and inadequate educational facilities despite paying taxes faithfully.

Attan vowed to use his position in Parliament to challenge government agencies and leaders who fail to deliver services to the people. He emphasized that taxpayers deserve value for their money and promised to remain vocal on issues affecting the common citizen.

Supporters who witnessed the swearing-in ceremony described his return to Parliament as a victory for the people of Soroti City East, expressing confidence that he will continue championing their concerns in the 12th Parliament.
