For many months, listeners, colleagues, and friends across the Teso sub-region have been asking the same question: Where is Joseph Egau?
 

The renowned sports analyst and broadcaster, known for his work with Veritas Radio, Voice of Teso, Etop Radio, and TV East, had largely disappeared from the public spotlight, prompting widespread speculation about his whereabouts.

Now, after years of silence, Egau has finally opened up, revealing a deeply personal story of heartbreak, depression, and the difficult journey of rebuilding his life.

In a candid account shared with the public on his WhatsApp status, Egau disclosed that his struggles began in early 2024 when a family relationship he had spent nearly nine years building unexpectedly came to an end. The separation, he said, left him emotionally devastated and struggling to cope with the loss.

According to Egau, the breakdown of the relationship marked one of the darkest periods of his life. The emotional pain gradually affected his daily life, leading him into depression and causing him to withdraw from many of the activities and people he once cherished.

"I lost my sense of normal life," he revealed, reflecting on the difficult period that followed the collapse of a family he had invested years of love, sacrifice, and commitment into building.

His revelation comes as a surprise to many who had formed different opinions about his absence from the media industry. While some speculated about professional disagreements or career changes, Egau says the reality was rooted in personal pain and emotional struggles.

As he battled the effects of the separation, he distanced himself from friends, colleagues, and many of his usual contacts. He explained that he often felt misunderstood and found it difficult to express the challenges he was facing.

A new chapter began around August 2024 when a friend invited him to Karamoja, offering him an opportunity to start afresh. Although the move provided a change of environment, adapting to a new life while carrying emotional wounds proved challenging.

During the same period, Egau became involved with MK Modern Organics and Natural Products. However, he acknowledged that the emotional burden he was carrying affected his ability to fully commit to the venture and other responsibilities.

The veteran broadcaster also noted that many public figures often suffer in silence due to fear of judgment and criticism whenever they share their personal struggles.

Egau also appealed to the public not to judge him for his prolonged silence, saying his absence was the result of personal struggles he was working hard to overcome.

His story has since resonated with many supporters who have praised his courage in speaking openly about mental health, heartbreak, and the realities of life beyond the public spotlight.
