Emorikikinos group donated a number of assorted items to Soroti Regional Referral hospital COVID ward on Sunday afternoon

The association comprises individuals that lost their loved ones to the Coronavirus.

Bonny Etilu, one of the team members explained that the association was formed by people having interests in supporting and bringing back hope of those having COVID19.

‘’We realized that even the doctors need support, those at the covid unit need good food to boost up their body immunity so we decided to form this association and call upon the public to come and join us in this move as we charge 20,000 for registration and 25,000 for anyone who wants a t-shirt’’ he added

The association’s chairperson Denis Ineget also said that the association has future plans of having councilors who will help talk to those undergoing the stigma and also the community to make them embrace those who have recovered from Covid19

The donation that included liquid soap, jik, hand sanitizer, masks, fruits, eggs, and sugar was received by the Teso covid19 focal person Dr. John Wilson Etolu who appreciated the team for bringing in the support at the exact time it was needed and at the right place and further urged the public to support too as they do their best as medical personnel.

‘’Soroti happens to be the second hospital with the big number of covid cases admitted in the country and region, we have about 70 patients and half of them are on oxygen, we also received about 8 of them requiring oxygen and other support too, we are so great full for the support, we appreciate the support so much’’ Dr. Etolu said.

‘’We have lost some patients especially those put under home treatment as they require oxygen as the available covid facility is overwhelmed by patients thus making us set up tents in the hospital and also open up a covid unit at the nursing school to help curb the increasing number of patients being admitted on daily basis, I advise the public to continue observing the sops’’ he added

The attendants who received the items expressed their joy for the Emorikikinos group

"We are s grateful for this kind donation and shall keep praying to God to bless you more" One gentleman said
