Schools finally reopen after two years of closure

A number of schools in Uganda officially reopened on Monday under strict standard operating procedures for fighting the deadly COVID 19 virus


In different boarding schools that we visited, students were requested to report back with different hand washing detergents and masks while day schools ensured that every student had a mask and sanitizer to help in the fight against COVID 19.


Asekenya Bertah the headteacher of Jerressar high school, Soroti appreciated the big turn up of students and ensured that they used two different gates so as to avoid congestion.


They did not request COVID vaccination cards because the majority of the students are below the age of eighteen.


" We are going to work hard to see through that the syllabus is fully covered as the students are going to the next classes and I call upon the parents to bring their children back to school" She added 


Atim Natasha destiny a student at Jerressar high school was excited to report back to school and get promoted to the next class and promised to work hard too.


Engirot Deogracious a student in Jerressar high school appreciated govt for opening up schools and giving them automatic promotions.


Meanwhile, the headteacher of Swaria primary school Nathan Paul Olupot said that they registered a low turn up of about 86 pupils on day one.

 

He encouraged parents to take back their children to school since studies have officially begun.
