About seven candidates have come out to express interest in the Soroti city east by-elections, a position that went vacant after the court nullified Attan Moses Okia's victory.
According to the electoral commission, the seven candidates include FDC’s Attan Moses OKia, NRM’s Herbert Edmund Ariko, UPC’s Pascal Amuriat, Ogita Joseph an independent candidate, Okore Isaac from the DP party, and two NRM-leaning independents who include Omoding Herbert and Omoding Stephen.
Earlier today, FDC’s Attan Moses Okia was nominated together with two directly elected councilors as the other candidates will be nominated tomorrow.
The Electoral Commission tasked the voters in Soroti City East Division to stay calm and non-violent during and after July 28, polls.
