Mob burns to death suspected cattle thief in Kumi

Kumi - An angry mob in Kumi district on saturday burnt to death a suspected cattle thief in a motor vehicle after suspecting it's occupant to be a member of the cattle thieving ring.

 

 

 

According to SP Ageca Oscar Gregg the PRO East Kyoga in a press statement issued today, the incident happened in Kalungar village, Atutur Sub county, Kumi district where a murder case of a yet to be identified individual registered under vide Atutur police station, SD REF 07/08/10/2022 and KUMI CRB CRB 632/2022.

 

 

 

"Preliminary findings indicate that on Saturday the 08/10/2022 at around 07:30AM information was received that there was an identified person burnt together with a motor vehicle at Kalungar village, kapokin parish, Atutur Sub county Kumi district", Ageca said.

 

 

 

"We visited the scene, where we found a naked burnt dead body of yet to be identified male adult person under Toyota Noah vehicle registration number UAZ 272T white in colour. The motor vehicle was burnt beyond discernable recognition. The Body of the deceased was taken to Atutur hospital mortuary for postmortem. We also recovered some exhibits and are currently tracing for suspects in this incident",

 

 

 

He further as police appealed to the general public to respect the laws as established by not carrying out extra judicial killings.

 

 

 

"We further ask any person or persons with information as to the identity of the deceased to come help with identification to allow for interment at his ancestral home", Ageca added.
