Soroti High Court has today 20th, January dismissed the election petition that was filed against the Soroti City West Member of Parliament Jonathan Ebwalu with costs.

While delivering his ruling earlier today, his lordship justice Musa Ssekana said the petition was filled out of time and thus dismissed the petition with costs.

It should however be known that Hon. Ebwalu was petitioned by a section of the voters over the legality of some wards in the western division like Aloet and Opiyai that participated in the Soroti city east by-elections yet the voters of those wards had voted for the Soroti city west member of Parliament before.

The voters asked the court to set aside the election victory of Hon. Jonathan Ebwalu and order for a by-election.

Through their lawyers, Kaganzi and Co advocates expressed their dissatisfaction over what they called "unconstitutional acts and omissions" of not deleting 5,233 voters from the aforementioned parishes.
