Police Investigate Suspected Hanging of 70-Year-Old Woman in Amuria

AMURIA - Police in Amuria District have kicked off investigations into the suspected murder by hanging of a 70-year-old woman.

 

The incident occurred on 25/06/2024 at 04:00 AM in Arute Village, Arute Parish, Abarilela Sub-County in Amuria District.

 

The deceased, identified as Nambi Robinah, a 70-year-old Muganda by tribe and housewife to Mr. Okiror John, allegedly hanged herself.

 

It's believed that the deceased had been battling a mental health problem since last year after her involvement in a motor accident.

 

According to ASP Obukulem Edison, the acting mouthpiece for East Kyoga in a press statement issued yesterday, the body of the deceased was found hanging in the morning of 25/06/2024 on a Muvule tree a few meters from her home.

 

The matter was reported to police vide CRB 201/2024 of CPS Amuria, and the body was conveyed to Amuria General Hospital Mortuary for postmortem.

 

He also added that no arrests have been made yet.
