Halcyon High School has etched its name in the country’s academic record books after delivering an extraordinary performance in the 2025 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations, achieving a 100 percent Division One pass rate among all candidates who sat for the national exams.

A total of 657 students registered for the examinations, and every single candidate attained Division One, marking one of the school’s most remarkable achievements under the new curriculum. School administrators confirmed that no learner scored below the top division, underscoring a consistent standard of excellence across all subjects.

The headteacher, Mr. Onyait Paul Mark, described the results as exceptional and unprecedented. He noted that the candidates earned only A and B grades across both science and arts disciplines, reflecting the institution’s balanced academic strength. In total, students secured 497 A grades, 3,063 Bs, and 2,993 Cs, further demonstrating depth in performance across subject areas.

Mr. Onyait attributed the milestone to a culture grounded in discipline, teamwork, and strong collaboration among parents, teachers, and students. He also highlighted the school’s spiritual foundation, saying faith and collective commitment played a central role in achieving the outstanding results.

Students expressed pride and gratitude following the release of the results. Many credited their teachers for tireless academic support and acknowledged their parents’ sacrifices in ensuring consistent school attendance and preparation. Several candidates shared aspirations of joining leading A-Level institutions to pursue combinations in sciences and humanities, inspired by their strong UCE performance.

The Resident Director, Mr. Richard Omusei, praised the dedication of the teaching staff and emphasized the importance of maintaining a conducive learning environment. He pointed out that the school’s location away from major urban distractions allows students to focus on their studies. He further noted that prompt teacher remuneration and staff motivation significantly contribute to sustained academic excellence.

According to the school administration, top-performing subjects included Geography, English, Chemistry, and Mathematics, highlighting strength in both arts and sciences. The leadership reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high standards, emphasizing that discipline remains central to the institution’s philosophy.

As the school community celebrates the achievement, administrators extended appreciation to parents, teachers, and students for their unwavering support and determination.
