The government of Uganda has allocated UGX 18 Billion to the art and entertainment industry as a way of boosting and supporting the talented ones.

According Peace Mutuzo the State Minister for Gender the money is intended to help musicians get professional training in writing and composing songs, poems, videos and other forms of work that will promote Uganda’s cultures, as well as using a sum of it to enforce the copyright law that will protect their work.

“We know that this is peanuts but we want to begin from there. We want the artistes to come together so they can benefit from the money,” Mutuzo said.

Mutuzo said that they have finalized the first stage of the strategic plan and forwarded it to the ministry of Finance to review its financial implication.
