SERERE - The State Minister for Fisheries, Hon. Hellen Adoa, also the Woman MP for Serere District, has commended the impact of community barazas in aiding the fight against corruption and enhancing various government programs, including Emyooga PDM and initiatives from the Office of the Prime Minister.

The minister made these remarks yesterday at the Serere District Headquarters during a baraza attended by residents of Olio Sub County and Serere Town Council.

According to her, the barazas have already covered more than 13 sub-counties in the district, with only three remaining before expanding to parish levels.

She emphasized that before she took the initiative to support the ideology of community barazas, many people lacked awareness about government programs, contributing to a high level of corruption.

However, recent efforts, including the arrests of corrupt officials by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit in other districts, have led to a decrease in corruption cases, with no district officials being arrested.

Meanwhile, RDC Serere District, Emmanuel Okoth, expressed appreciation for the minister's use of barazas, stating that they have enabled leaders to address the masses, understand their concerns, and educate them about various government programs.
