As Uganda heads toward its highly anticipated general election, Pascal Amuriat, the Deputy President for the Democratic front in charge Eastern region, has made a heartfelt plea to the people of Teso to unite in prayer against the escalating issue of vote rigging.
In a passionate statement, Amuriat emphasized that the spirit of electoral fraud has become pervasive in the region and warned that if left unchecked, it could undermine the integrity of the upcoming polls.
Speaking during an inclusive interview, he called on Teso’s citizens to invoke the power of the Holy Spirit to cleanse the election process and rid the region of the destructive force of vote manipulation.
"We are witnessing a growing culture of election fraud in Teso, and it is time we take a stand. As a community, we must come together and use the divine authority of the Holy Spirit to dispel the spirit of vote rigging that has tainted our democracy," Amuriat declared. His call for unity and prayer reflects the growing concerns among Ugandans that electoral malpractice remains a significant challenge in the country, particularly in rural areas like Teso.
Amuriat, who has played a central role in strengthening the Democratic Front party, a political party founded by former Leader of Opposition Mathias Mpuunga, believes that the rise of the party has posed a serious challenge to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party. He has argued that the Democratic Front offers a genuine alternative to Ugandans who seek a more transparent and accountable government, free from corruption and manipulation. According to Amuriat, the party’s vision is rooted in fairness, justice, and a deep commitment to service to the people.
In addition to Amuriat’s comments, Christine Abeja, the woman aspirant for Ngora District, shared her own perspective on the upcoming election. Addressing her constituents, Abeja assured the people of Ngora that her campaign was not driven by animosity toward any other political group but by a genuine desire to serve. "I have not come to fight anyone, but to deliver the best services that Ngora deserves," Abeja said, emphasizing that her platform prioritizes development, fairness, and progress for the district.
As the election season intensifies, the Democratic Front continues to position itself as a viable option for Ugandans seeking change. Amuriat’s call for prayer, coupled with his party’s message of hope and integrity, highlights the deep desire among many citizens for free, fair, and credible elections. With the future of Uganda’s democracy at stake, the people of Teso and beyond are being urged to stand together in both faith and action for a better tomorrow.
