To curb any signs of violence during and after tomorrow’s polls in the by-elections in Soroti city east, police in Soroti city have passed out security measures to ensure the safety of the voters.

While having an interview with this website, ASP Oscar Gregg Ageca the police spokesperson for east Kyoga territory said that they will work with other security agencies to help boost security and urged the public not to be scared of the deployment as it’s not to deter any person from their movement but keep security and make sure that the rights and privileges of all people and electoral materials are safe.

‘’Today is the preparation for the polling day that’s taking place tomorrow Thursday 28th July 2022 for the election of the MPs and the councilors of pioneer ward and we inform the public that by yesterday 26th July 2022, the campaigns had stopped at 06:00 pm’’, he added.

He also added that armed personnel are not allowed to carry firearms inside the polling station if not given authority and discouraged the public from playing loud music near or around the polling station as their material will be confiscated.
